Christopher Thompson- Director & Coach

Jessica Thompson- Assistant Director & Coach

 Christopher is entering his third year with Mass Power, serving as Club Director. A 1997 graduate of Western New England University, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and competed as a Division III athlete in both baseball and basketball. With over 15 years of coaching experience at the recreational, travel, AAU, and varsity levels, Christopher brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to the program. As both a coach and parent, he is deeply invested in the club’s success—his three children, including two daughters, are proud members of the Mass Power family.

Jessica Thompson- Assistant Director & Coach

  Jessica returns for her third year with Mass Power, serving as both Assistant Club Director and Coach. She brings over a decade of experience working with children of all ages and abilities, and earned her master’s degree in Special Education from Southern New Hampshire University in 2018. Jessica is deeply committed to helping young athletes grow. She is also a proud mother of three, including two daughters who play for Mass Power. 

George Walker Jr.- Coach

George Walker Jr.- Coach

 Head Coach George returns to Mass Power for his third year, bringing more than 20 years of coaching experience across multiple sports at the youth, high school, and AAU levels. He is a 2000 graduate of Bridgewater State College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. A dedicated coach and proud father, George has three daughters who all play for Mass Power, making his commitment to the program both personal and professional.  

John Gunagan- Coach

 Head Coach John is returning for his third year with Mass Power. A 1995 graduate of Western New England University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering while competing on the men’s volleyball team. John has over a decade of experience coaching various youth teams and has played with the Yankee Volleyball Club for more than a decade. His passion for the game and commitment to youth development are evident both on and off the court. John's youngest daughter is also a proud member of the Mass Power program.  

Yesenia Aviles- Coach

Paola Gonzàlez-Màrquez- Assistant Coach

Yesenia is a 2021 graduate of Becker College with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and youth. She received her Master of Art of Art in teaching from UMASS Dartmouth in 2023. She played volleyball at Becker College. She has been coaching at Southbridge Middle High School since 2021. Yesenia has also coached the St. Johns Parish and Karl Storz volleyball teams.

Paola is a 2019 graduate from Dean College with an associates degree in science. She obtained her EMT license in 2019 and graduated from the Firefighter Academy in 2023 receiving her Fire I and II certifications. Paola has been playing volleyball since the young age of 5 ad now has been playing for 16 years. She started the middle school volleyball program at Southbridge Middle High School in 2021 and has an impressive total of 3 undefeated seasons. When not coaching volleyball, she is a fulltime Firefighter at Webster Fire & Rescue and part-time EMT at Webster EMS. She is taking the 24-25 Club Season off.

 Returning for her second year as Head Coach, Madison is a Bay Path High School graduate where she played varsity volleyball. She continued her playing career with SLAM Volleyball Club and has served as the Varsity Assistant Volleyball Coach at Bay Path since 2022. Madison is currently attending Nichols College, pursuing a degree in Sports Marketing and Content Creation. In addition to coaching at Mass Power, she is also the Varsity Girls' Volleyball Coach at Bay Path High School. 

Shannon Hartmann- Coach

 Shannon returns for her second year with Mass Power. A dedicated mother and wife, she brings a strong athletic background, having played volleyball for the Long Island Power Club and earned a volleyball scholarship to St. Bonaventure University. She also played basketball at Regis College. Shannon has coaching experience as a junior varsity coach at Matignon High School in Cambridge and has spent four years coaching recreational basketball at the Boys and Girls Club. Beyond sports, she serves as the Director of Education and Youth On a Mission leader at the First Congregational Church in Auburn. Shannon is also a proud mother of a daughter who plays for Mass Power.

Mass Power Volleyball is excited to welcome Maddy to the coaching staff this year. A 2025 graduate of Tantasqua Regional High School, Maddy brings six years of high school and club volleyball experience, highlighted by her role as a key player on the 18U team that traveled to Ocean City, MD to compete at BeachFest. Known for her strong setting skills and fearless approach to every challenge, she will continue her volleyball career this fall as a member of the Quinsigamond Community College team.

Mass Power Volleyball is excited to announce that Lizzy is joining the coaching staff this year. A 2025 graduate of Tantasqua Regional High School, Lizzy was a dedicated athlete on her school team and a defensive specialist on Mass Power’s 18U volleyball team, which traveled to Ocean City, MD to compete at BeachFest. This fall, she will be attending Quinsigamond Community College, where she will continue playing volleyball as part of their team.
